Do I have to include an Asking Price?

Asking Prices are required for all fixed-price (non-auction) listings on CLASSIC.COM

At CLASSIC.COM, we believe transparency is key to creating trust between buyers and sellers, and to building the most accurate market data possible. That’s why all fixed-price (non-auction) listings on our platform require an asking price.

An asking price helps buyers know where to start, makes negotiations smoother, and ensures our market data reflects real pricing trends that benefit the entire collector car community.

Auction Listings

If a Private Seller or Dealer listing first enters the system as Fixed-price, and is then sent to auction, the asking price can be hidden once the listing is linked to an active auction. To request this update, please email us at pitcrew@classic.com

If a Dealer listing first enters the system as an "Upcoming Auction" and does not sell, it will display the label “Ask for Price” once the auction ends. At that time, it is optional for the seller to add an asking price.

Limited Exceptions for Verified Dealers

We understand there are special situations where a Dealer may prefer not to publish an asking price. To balance those needs with our commitment to transparency, we allow limited exceptions for Dealers who meet specific requirements:

  • The Dealer must be a Verified Seller in good standing with CLASSIC.COM

  • The Dealer must have at least 100 historical listings on the platform

  • No more than 5% of the Dealer's active fixed-price listings can omit an asking price

  • The Dealer must send inventory through a data feed (not available with Manual Upload)

These listings will display the label “Ask for Price”.

Why We Do This

Our approach ensures that transparency remains the standard for the marketplace, while still giving our most established dealer partners the flexibility they occasionally need. This policy protects the integrity of our data, helps buyers shop with confidence, and allows sellers to continue benefiting from the trust and traffic CLASSIC.COM provides.
